Sanitrum's boron platform turns into research programs that reach the market through our own brand Syorell and our collaboration with Olimpum. One family of chemistry, protecting living systems from stress: in skin and in crops.

A life-science group founded and authored by M. Kerim Çekiç, an entrepreneur active for 30 years across chemistry, agriculture, cosmetics and biotechnology, advancing its science for over a decade under the scientific leadership of Prof. Dr. Zekai Halıcı (Atatürk University). Developed with Atatürk University under TÜBİTAK University-Industry programs and taken to market through our own brand Syorell and, in agriculture, our collaboration with Olimpum.

Boron bioactives that raise SPF and defend skin

The problem

Climate change is lengthening UV exposure and driving skin-care demand. Mineral-filter demand rose +167% in five years, toward a $16B global market by 2031. Formulators need home-grown, multifunctional actives instead of costly imports.

The science

Boric acid esterified at its cis-diol -OH positions with pyridoxine (B6), ascorbic acid (C) and hyaluronic acid, as mono/di calcium, zinc and sodium salts. 18 boron compounds synthesized and characterized (FT-IR, elemental, thermal, SC-XRD, GC-MS). Pyridoxine esters emerged strongest.

The proof

With zinc oxide's ~15% contribution excluded, boron esters raised SPF further, up to SPF 89 in a single active (mono-pyridoxine calcium). Non-cytotoxic on skin fibroblasts; strong antioxidant activity; cytoprotective against UVA/UVB photoaging with positive effects on collagen.

Where it goes

Five lead actives selected and formulated as SPF 50+ prototypes, ready for formula adaptation and pilot production and available as raw materials to manufacturers. Target markets: United States, Asia and Australia.

Stage

A boron-zinc carrier for safer, more available micronutrition

The problem

Boron has the narrowest safe range of any plant nutrient: the gap between deficiency and toxicity is very small, so conventional boron carries real over-dose risk. And not all zinc in tissue is active, zinc bound in synthetic chelates is pH-sensitive, so total zinc can read high while available zinc runs low.

The science

Boron is essential for pollination and fertilization, required for pollen germination and pollen-tube growth, and for fruit set. Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is a proven plant antioxidant and abiotic-stress protectant. We combine boron and zinc on a pyridoxine-based carrier.

Our design hypothesis

Under drought and abiotic stress, the fluid in a plant's xylem becomes more alkaline (a rise in pH), a documented signal that alters how pH-sensitive chelates behave. Our complex is designed to keep boron and zinc bioavailable through these shifts, with less of the energy cost of cleaving synthetic chelators. Under validation.

Filed as patent application 2025/014197 with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office; controlled cold and heat trials against control groups in design. Delivered through Olimpum, a Bursa crop-nutrition manufacturer, 125+ products, 60+ countries.
